Talent Points

I’m spending the day getting the talent point system in place. I thought it might be a good idea to share what we’ve come up with so far so here goes.
So, you can get up to two talent points per level if you can keep all the planets population safe. You will be able to fill up the entire tree if you can keep ALL your population intact for the whole game. Good luck with that by the way.
The talents are divided up into four distinct tracks. Each talent in a track can be upgraded a maximum of five times. You will need to max out the first item in a track before you can reach the next.
Track 1
Track 2
Track 3
Track 4
So there you have it. These values are what we are starting with and may / will get changed during out play testing. But at least you can see where we are headed.

Hey I dig the Points system.
If you are planning to reward people for perfecting each game, then it will definitely drive certain people (Like myself) to strive for completion. As infinitely hard as levels may be, it might be important to make sure that this is actually physical possible to complete. (even if it is nerve wrecking)
I’ve talked with a few other friends that play tower defense games too, and a good majority of them actually play them for the extra challenges presented.
The only major downside to all of this is it takes a ton of play testing tweaking to find exactly the right difficulty curve to make levels increasingly more challenging.
Either way, I like the point system.
I certainly agree, I’ve put in countless hours already testing the levels trying to get every level on a curve that feels right. I’m really pleased with how the game is playing through right now, so I think I’m pretty close to nailing down a good curve.
